Since the beginning of 2025, changes regarding fines for violation of traffic rules have come into force in Ukraine. The lawmaker has toughened the liability for drivers, explaining this by the need to reduce accidents on the roads and increase the discipline of road users.

Major changes in fines

  1. Speeding

    • Up to +20 km/h - 340 UAH (previously 255 UAH).

    • Over +50 km/h - 1700 UAH (previously 1700 remained, but now more often used fixation cameras).

  2. Driving without a license

    • If a driver forgets a document - warning or 425 UAH.

    • If a person has never received a license - the fine is increased to 20,400 UAH.

  3. Driving while intoxicated

    • The first case - 34 000 UAH and deprivation of license for 1 year.

    • Repeated violation within a year - 68 000 UAH and deprivation for 3 years.

  4. Parking violations

    • Fines have been increased by an average of 30%. For example, for parking in places for people with disabilities will now have to pay 1200 UAH.

  5. Running a red light

    • 1020 UAH (previously 850 UAH).

Why are fines being raised?

Ukraine is following the path of European countries, where strict sanctions have long proved their effectiveness. The main goal is to reduce road deaths and discipline drivers.

What should drivers pay attention to?

  • Security cameras have become the main instrument of control. Their number is constantly increasing, especially in large cities.

  • Fines come online - through Dia or by mail.

  • Pay with discount can be within 10 banking days - then the amount is reduced by 50%.

Summary

Raising fines is not only a blow to the wallet, but also an incentive to be more attentive behind the wheel. By observing the rules of the road, a driver saves not only money, but also the most valuable thing - life and health.
